Where to go by the sea with a dog for a nearby beach, good walking spots and as few seasonal restrictions as possible? If peace and nature matter most, choose Dębki, Białogóra, or the areas around Rozewie and Jastrzębia Góra. If infrastructure, restaurants and easy access to services matter more, consider the Tricity. On the western coast, Niechorze is an interesting base.

There is no one destination ideal for every dog. An energetic pet may thrive on the long forest trails around Rozewie, while an older dog may do better somewhere with easy beach access and shorter walking routes.

Local regulations matter too. Poland has no blanket ban on dogs on beaches, but seasonal restrictions may apply to specific bathing areas. When planning a seaside holiday with your dog, check not only your accommodation but also the rules at the nearest beach.

How did we choose the best seaside destinations for a holiday

What makes a destination dog-friendly? Simply offering pet-friendly accommodation is not enough. If reaching the nearest beach where dogs are legally allowed takes a daily drive of several dozen minutes, your holiday quickly becomes inconvenient.

When comparing destinations, we focus mainly on six factors:

  • access to a dog beach or sections where pets are allowed,

  • walking areas, forests and access to shade,

  • tourist traffic in peak season,

  • availability of pet-friendly accommodation,

  • access to veterinary care,

  • attractions and places to visit with your pet.

The time of year also matters. A destination packed with tourists in July may be ideal for a peaceful holiday with a dog in September. Beach access also changes as seasonal bathing areas operate.

Jastrzębia Góra is a good example. In 2026, lifeguarded bathing areas are located at entrances 22, 23 and 25. Those at entrances 22 and 25 operate from 1 July to 31 August, while the area at entrance 23 operates from 15 June to 6 September. Dogs are banned from lifeguarded bathing areas, but Władysławowo municipality has no general ban on the remaining beaches.

Dębki with a dog – a good choice for beaches and peaceful walks

Dębki regularly appears on lists of recommended seaside holiday destinations for dogs. It is easy to see why. This small town is surrounded by greenery and offers a wide beach and excellent conditions for longer walks instead of a typical urban resort.

The key information for dog owners concerns the beach. In season, the section at entrance no. 18 is designated for people holidaying with dogs. It lies at the quieter edge of town. The central bathing area covers entrances 19–21, where seasonal pet restrictions apply.

Why does Dębki work well with a dog beyond the beach? Its walking areas are a major advantage. Head towards the Piaśnica estuary or choose forest trails instead of crossing the crowded centre. On hot days, access to shade is especially valuable for both people and dogs.

The downside comes at the height of summer. July and August can be very busy, so if you can choose your dates, June or September will be much more pleasant.

Białogóra with a dog – for those seeking even more peace

If Dębki seem too popular, look a few kilometres farther. Białogóra has a completely different character from the Baltic’s biggest resorts: more forest, less urban development and far fewer reasons to spend all day moving through tourist crowds.

It is especially well suited to active dogs. The walk to the beach can be part of the outing, while the surrounding forests let you change route when the sand gets too hot.

Białogóra also has one advantage often overlooked before a trip: shade. In hot weather, a long walk along an exposed promenade can be exhausting for a dog. Here, it is easier to move your activity into the forest and return to the water in the late afternoon.

It will not be the best choice for everyone, however. If you want extensive dining, urban attractions and many services just steps from your accommodation, the Tricity and larger resorts offer much more.

Jastrzębia Góra and Rozewie with a dog – sea, forest and a great

Jastrzębia Góra and nearby Rozewie are a good choice if, on a holiday with your dog, you want more than just the beach. The area has cliffs, coastal paths and plenty of forest, so even in summer you can find a shadier route. Walk towards the Rozewie lighthouse or choose Lisi Jar, a green ravine and pleasant alternative to strolling on hot sand.

What about the beach? In 2026, Jastrzębia Góra has bathing areas at entrances 22, 23 and 25, and Rozewie at entrance no. 16. The latter operates from 1 July to 31 August. When going out with your pet, watch the boundaries of lifeguarded sections and choose places where animals are allowed.

A major advantage of this coast is the ability to combine beach and forest. This is especially important in hot weather, when spending hours on open sand is not ideal for a dog. Outside the season, the area becomes even quieter, making it much easier to plan a long walk by the Baltic.

If you are looking for pet-friendly accommodation, Rosevia Resort & SPA is located in Rozewie, surrounded by beech forest and close to the sea. The resort accepts small and medium-sized dogs of breeds not considered aggressive, with prior notice.

Check out our offer

Chałupy, Jastarnia and Hel – is the Hel Peninsula worth visiting with

The Hel Peninsula offers different possibilities. You get long beaches and walking routes, but in July and August you must expect large crowds. If your dog reacts badly to crowds, bicycles, children or other animals, midsummer may not be the best time.

Chałupy suits those who want to be close to nature and do not need extensive infrastructure. Jastarnia offers more restaurants and services, while Hel provides plenty of walking and sightseeing opportunities. In every case, check the rules for the specific beach section before entering.

If you can choose your dates, the Hel Peninsula is much more enjoyable to explore with a dog in June, September or outside the main season.

The Tricity with a dog – the best infrastructure, but more

Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia are a good choice for those who do not want to give up urban comforts on holiday. Restaurants, shops, public transport and a much wider range of services make organising your stay easier than in a small seaside town.

Infrastructure is the biggest advantage. It is easier to find pet-friendly accommodation, a veterinary clinic or somewhere to walk beyond the beach. You can also adapt your plans to the weather: choose the sea one day, then a park or a longer route through green areas the next.

There is, however, another side: the Tricity means significantly more people. This need not be a problem for a calm, well-socialised dog. But for a fearful or reactive animal, a crowded promenade in mid-July can quickly become exhausting.

Łeba with a dog – plenty to do, but choose your beach carefully in

Łeba suits those who want to combine a seaside holiday with active sightseeing. Its greatest assets are the area around Słowiński National Park, forests and long walking routes. With a dog, however, remember the rules for protected areas and check before your trip which trails allow pets.

The town itself gets crowded in summer. In the 2026 season, three main bathing areas operate, with the bathing season running from 1 July to 31 August. Lifeguarded sections cover around 500 metres of coastline in total. If you are going to the seaside with a dog, check the current rules and locations of dog-friendly sections in advance.

Łeba is a good choice for those who do not want to spend their entire holiday on the beach. If peace is your priority, however, quieter Dębki, Białogóra or the Rozewie area may be more convenient in July and August.

Rowy with a dog – quieter than the biggest resorts

Rowy has several features dog owners usually appreciate: a small centre, nearby forests and a location right next to Słowiński National Park. It is less urban than Łeba or the Tricity, making it easier to plan a holiday focused mainly on walks and relaxation.

It is also a good place for a dog that dislikes constant urban noise. Combine a morning walk by the sea with a later outing into the forest. In season, always check the signs at specific beach entrances and the rules for protected areas.

The biggest downside? Rowy also stops being fully intimate at the height of summer. If you want a peaceful seaside destination with a dog, June, September or the off-season is definitely a better choice.

Niechorze with a dog – an interesting destination on the

If you are interested in the western Baltic coast, consider Niechorze. It is smaller than Międzyzdroje but still offers a well-developed accommodation and dining base. It is also easy to set off from here on a longer walk beyond the centre.

Niechorze is ideal if you want to combine a beach with standard tourist infrastructure. You do not have to choose between a tiny town and a large resort – here you get something in between.

In season, determine in advance which beach section allows dogs and what rules currently apply. This is especially important in July and August, when bathing areas operate and tourist traffic is at its peak.

Międzyzdroje with a dog: many attractions, many tourists

Międzyzdroje is practically the opposite of Białogóra. It is a good choice if you like plenty of activity during your holiday. The promenade, restaurants, events and proximity to Wolin National Park make it easy to plan your day even when you do not want to spend it on the beach.

For one dog, this is an advantage; for another, a serious drawback. If your pet handles people, city traffic and new places well, options abound. With a fearful or reactive dog, the holiday promenade may simply exhaust it.

The area of Wolin National Park is another attraction. It sounds ideal for walks, but before taking a particular trail, check the current rules on animals. As in other resorts, it is worth checking the regulations of the beach you plan to use.

For a dog that struggles with crowds, Białogóra may be much better than the Tri-City. If easy access to services, restaurants or veterinary care matters, a larger town is more convenient.

That is why, before booking, first consider what your dog needs, then look for accommodation.

Best time: seaside with a dog—peak or off-season?

The travel date may matter more than the destination. July and August mean more tourists, higher temperatures and supervised beaches in operation, where restrictions on dogs may apply. Outside peak season, it is quieter, and long beach walks are usually much more enjoyable.

Do not assume restrictions apply everywhere from 1 June to 30 September. Dates vary locally. For example, in Władysławowo municipality in 2026, some supervised beaches operate from 15 June to 6 September, and others from 1 July to 31 August. Dogs are not allowed in supervised bathing areas.

If traveling outside school holidays, June and September are excellent for a seaside holiday with your dog: fewer people, quiet spots easier to find, and milder temperatures for active walks. Autumn and winter also have advantages—especially for dogs that enjoy long routes or struggle with heat.

Seaside holidays with a dog—what to remember before you go?

A good holiday starts before you pack the car. Check the latest beach rules, accommodation regulations and access to veterinary care. If travelling in July or August, also plan places where you can walk in the shade.

Take water and a bowl, bags, a leash and something to provide shade for your dog. For longer stays, a mat or towel is useful. Also check water-quality updates—Baltic summers can bring, for example, algal blooms and temporary bathing bans.

Most importantly, do not plan every day around the beach. A forest, quiet path or longer morning walk may be a much better attraction for your dog than hours on crowded sand.

FAQ: dog seaside destinations?

Where is best for a seaside holiday with a dog?

If you want peace and nature, consider Dębki, Białogóra, Rozewie and Jastrzębia Góra. The Tri-City is more convenient for those seeking extensive infrastructure, while Niechorze is an appealing option on the west coast. The best destination mainly depends on your dog's temperament and how you like to spend your holiday.

Which beaches can you visit with a dog?

There is no single rule for the entire Baltic coast. There are official dog beaches, and in some towns you can use sections outside supervised bathing areas. For example, Władysławowo municipality reminds visitors that dogs are not allowed in supervised bathing areas.

Where to go seaside with a dog for somewhere quiet?

Smaller towns and areas with plenty of green space are good choices. Białogóra, Dębki and Rozewie offer more opportunities to walk away from crowded centres. Consider travelling in June, September or completely outside the season.

Is Jastrzębia Góra a good holiday destination with a dog?

Yes, especially if you want to combine the sea, forest and walking routes. However, remember about seasonal bathing areas. In 2026, those in Jastrzębia Góra operate at entrances 22, 23 and 25, and at nearby Rozewie at entrance 16. Dogs are not allowed in supervised bathing areas.

Where to go with a dog outside the season?

Outside the season, the choice is much wider. If walks are your priority, consider the areas around Jastrzębia Góra and Rozewie, Białogóra, Dębki, Rowy or the Hel Peninsula. In autumn and early spring, even popular towns are much quieter.

What do dog owners value most during a seaside stay?

The simple things usually matter: easy beach access, a forest or other shaded routes, few crowds and accommodation that genuinely welcomes pets. In practice, these elements affect the comfort of a trip more than the number of typical tourist attractions.

Visit Baltic with your pet—choose a place for both

There is no single answer to where to go to the seaside with a dog. Dębki are ideal if the priority is beach and nature. Białogóra is a good choice for those seeking peace. The Tri-City wins on infrastructure, while Jastrzębia Góra and Rozewie conveniently combine the sea, cliffs and forest walks.

If this is your idea of a relaxing break, consider Rosevia Resort & SPA in Rozewie as a base for exploring this part of the coast. The resort is surrounded by beech forest, close to the sea, and Dębki, Białogóra, Karwia and dog-friendly destinations are just a short trip away.
